Moncton’s Legendary Rock Bands Unite for a Holiday Celebration
Get ready for a night of incredible music and holiday spirit as The Monoxides and The Motorleague come together to co-headline a special Christmas show at Casino New Brunswick. This exciting event promises high-energy performances from two of Moncton’s most iconic rock bands while supporting a meaningful cause.
A Night of Rock for a Great Cause
The concert will take place at the Molson Canadian Centre on Saturday, December 21, 2024. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the Peter McKee Community Food Centre in Moncton, helping families in need during the holiday season.
“It’s a tough time of year, and the work the Community Food Centre does alleviates some of the struggle,” says organizer and musician Nathan Jones. The proceeds will support vital programs like school lunches, Christmas boxes, and community drop-in services.
The Motorleague: Moncton Rock Heroes
Formed in 2006 by Don Levandier and Nathan Jones, alongside founding Monoxides member PJ Dunphy, The Motorleague quickly made their mark on Canada’s rock scene.
- Their award-winning 2016 album, Holding Patterns, showcased their hard-hitting style and earned critical acclaim.
- The band’s latest singles have collectively surpassed 2 million streams on Spotify, marking their continued success.
Levandier credits The Monoxides as an early inspiration: “They really smashed a glass ceiling and showed us what bands from Moncton were capable of. We wouldn’t have done half the touring we did without their influence.”
The Monoxides: Rock Trailblazers Since 1988
Since their formation in 1988, The Monoxides have cemented their status as Moncton rock legends. Over the years, they’ve shared stages across North America with iconic acts like Our Lady Peace, ZZ Top, and The Headstones.
- The band’s most recent single, “Let Her Know” (2023), marked their return to the spotlight after two decades and received national radio attention.
- Guitarist-vocalist Steve Hickox looks forward to this event: “We have nothing but love and respect for The Motorleague. They’ve carried the rock torch for New Brunswick these last 18 years. We’re hoping this show is the first of many stages we’ll conquer together.”
